FWSA Convention Spring 2022 Portland, OR

The convention, “Rollin’ On the River,” was held June 9-12 at the Holiday Inn-Portland Columbia Riverfront. Skiyente delegates attending included Fran Gaul, Eileen Hines, Tina Lyons, Mo Musser, Marina Nimmo, Julie Peck, Sandi Shaub, and Tina Weber.

Skiyente Sheri Parshall is a Trustee on the FWSA board, and was the Host Council Convention Coordinator. Fran Gaul and Sandi Shaub were the FWSA Hospitality Room coordinators.

Friday night there was a fun trade show and silent auction. The trade show included sponsors from western ski resorts and travel organizations. There were over 48 ski trip and travel packages available for bid at the auction.

The Saturday luncheon keynote speakers were Phil and Steve Mahre, former World Cup Alpine Ski Racers, who shared stories about their racing careers and personal lives.

At Saturday night’s awards banquet Sheri Parshall was presented with the Hans Georg Service Award for distinguished accomplishment and long-term contribution to skiing. Pete Dodd, PACRAT President, received the Terry Smith Race Award for his ski race contributions.

On Sunday Tina Lyons was elected as Secretary to the FWSA board, and Skiyente Ski Club received a Charities and Community Diamond Recognition Award for its support of the Mt Hood Cultural Center and Museum, the Erin Nicole Scholarship Fund, and highway cleanup work.
